Hallam School Fun Day

At the weekend we were invited to help Sheffield photographer David Shapiro shoot a local community event based at the Hallam Junior School. The event started with a carnival parade from the local shops the the school. As it was 4th July the theme for the event was American Independence Day many of the crowd dressed up as American characters.

Lots of locals were enjoying themselves, and we enjoyed joining them. We arrived at the start of the parade, just as the Hathersage Brass Band arrived. They were a great bunch and were only too pleased to have a group picture taken for their own publicity and web site.

Whilst working on getting good PR shots for the school I was approached by a mounted police woman. After reassuring her that I was there at the invitation of the organisers she asked if she could see if we had any good pictures of her horse. It seems that the horse was donated to the police and named after a local school and she writes a regular blog about the horses adventures.

It was great to meet her and we'd love to shoot her wedding if she's not already married! She is a real credit to the police and certainly much more human than we're generally used to meeting!

The weather was excellent for getting a nice tan, but too hot for working. The Hathersage Brass Band performed brilliantly in the weather, as indeed did the Police Horses.

It was a great day, we got some excellent PR pictures for the organisers, and I trust David will get some business from the exercise.
